February Newsletter – Sweethearts Sale and St Baldricks event!

February 14, 2017
February 11th-14th Sweethearts Sale
This Saturday through Tuesday, bring in a loved one, and both of you receive 15% off your purchases and free chocolates! At the same time, shop other stores on Mississippi participating in “Small Shops Big Hearts”, (see below).
This Valentine’s Day, find the right gift for your special someone on Mississippi Ave! Enjoy two days of sales, trunk shows, gifts, treats, wine tastings, and more! See you there!
Lots to love over here at HalfPint! Fantastic new selection of backpacks and large bags. Always something new! Winter Stock ON SALE now for 25% off. Come grab some UGGS, Sorels or a Pendleton today. Also–still a great selection of kids’ winter boots on sale too! Plus–keep an eye out for fresh spring merchandise hitting the shop soon!
On Sunday February 26th, HalfPint will be raising money and donating 100% of our Shop Sales to St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a nonprofit organization with the mission of raising funds for Childhood Cancer Research. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
There will be lots of SWAG to pick up while parents shop — Glitter tattoos, bracelets, balloons and more.
We will also be hosting an in-store ‘Be the Match’ Bone Marrow Drive. Be the Match will have a table at the shop that day, offering shoppers the opportunity to add their names to the National Bone Marrow Registry, educating people about the Registry and how even those who are not eligible to donate blood ARE eligible to be marrow donors.
Shop owner Maria Los explains the inspiration and timing of the event, “Seven years ago this month my son Casper, who is now 9, was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia. I don’t think any mother will forget the exact date she is told her son or daughter has cancer.” Her hope is that the event will allow families to enjoy shopping together, while at the same time raising much needed funds for medical research and the development of new childhood cancer drugs.
Did you know that 300,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year? And in the U.S., one in five will not survive. Only 4% of the US federal funding is solely dedicated to childhood cancer research, while 60% of funding for drug development in adult cancers comes from pharmaceutical companies. But for children, there is almost none, simply because it’s not profitable.
Please join us on Sunday, February 26, in supporting a very important/close to home cause that we feel especially passionate about.
